A Must: Beyond DAVID by Michelangelo, the Creation Process
High profile tour, aimed to couple families and friends, for who wants more: after the meeting point in the “Christian Book” shop (in front of the museum entrance) we will enter in the Galleria dell’Accademia art museum in Florence.
The first part of the visit includes an introduction to Michelangelo’s philosophical approach (thanks to his young stay with the Medici family) which contemplates the union of opposites: this aspect is at the root of many of Michelangelo’s works, such as those expressed in the Sistine Chapel (for this the tour is highly recommended for those who subsequently go to see the Vatican Chapel or for those who have just been there).
Finally we contemplate at a distance the “giant” symbol of Florence and the Renaissance and we will discover his history but also what hides behind David by Michelangelo: why David was so important at that time? Why is it so important today in art history as to be considered one of the symbols of western thought? Then it will be an opportunity to see how Michelangelo exceeds the perfection of David with his “Prigioni” (the slaves): these statues express a different style and tension (to say the contrary) compared to the David that is the pinnacle of his youthful journey: the so-called “unfinished way”, an artistic reason with profound philosophical roots will accompany the artist’s maturity until his death.
By choosing this experience, easily understandable because it is aimed at the whole family, you will see a unique, yet unpublished, perspective of an art history researcher on Michelangelo’s work: for this you will come to an exclusive knowledge also to understand our contemporary time.
